For the last couple of months the event that unfolded in the country is unprecedented. Attack on election commission of India, on chief justice , on NIA, on CBI and news peddled from fake stories, all these are having scary consequences.
The Dalit protests , the Patel agitation and Jat agitation has done irreparable damage to the reputation of our country, the South states dissent to Centre or criticism of north states has eroded the diversity. It questioned our integrity. The gruesome rapes of two months baby in Indore or eight years old girl in Kathua and for that matter gang rape of minor in Unnao have saken our conscience.
On international front our sovereignty is at stake , from Dhoklam to Indian Ocean, Chinese aggression is on rise.
We are being attacked from all fronts but our internal politics has also taken very bad shape. It is not exaggeration to say that road to 2019 can pass through Civil War.
There are forces in the background who are propelling the divide among Indians. For pretty bad politics leaders are throwing the state in a fragile mode. We must stop them of doing this.
We as a citizen of this great country need to be more responsible, our every acts count in the state of national discourse. Our democracy, sovereignty, values, ideals and trust are in danger. We must not abandon the fight to rebuild the country but we should stop every effort that divide us. Our international leaders are rejecting climate change, globalisation and free trade. We have to fight against climate change, terrorism and unfair trade.
All I want to convey here is to let us keep our social fabric intact, don’t let it break away in the hands of politicians. I wish someday we have smart, thoughtful and future oriented leaders.
The current time is very hard for middle and lower middle class family, the stagnant pay, under employment, unemployment and rising price has destroyed the living standards of many, hence discomfort is coming out as anger.
Disagreement with government policies and leaders or any other is normal thing, we should counter it in more decent way. If you disagree with somebody, bring them in and ask them tough questions. Hold their feet to fire. Make them defend their positions. If somebody has got a bad or offensive ideas, prove it wrong. Stand up for what you believe in. Don’t be scared to take somebody on. Don’t feel like you’ve got to shut your ears off because you’re too fragile, and somebody might offend your sensibilities. Go at them if they’re not making any sense. Use your logic and reason and words. And by doing so, you’ll strengthen your own position, and you’ll hone your arguments. And maybe you’ll learn something and realize you don’t know everything.
Never ever involve in the unruly agitations those target civilians and public properties. You have a moral obligation, a mission and a mandate to do what you can to help make our own country, to help make the world a better place. You can do it. You must do it. You have a mission. You have an obligation to find a way to get in the way.
